Marsilea Hirsuta
Marsilea hirsuta is a carpet-plant from Australia.
A fascinating plant, usually delivered with leaves like a four-leaf clover.
After a transitional period it develops different types of leaves, possibly a low form with single leaves like a large Glossostigma, or alternatively develop two, three or four-lobed leaves varying in height (from 2-10 cm), depending on the growth conditions.
Whichever form the plant adopts, it forms runners and spreads rapidly round the aquarium.

Marsilea hirsuta: A Shape-Shifting Carpet for Singapore Scapes
Marsilea hirsuta is the carpet plant we point newcomers toward when they want a low foreground without committing to a high-tech setup. It often arrives with four-leaf-clover foliage, then over a few weeks settles into single or lobed leaves depending on your light and CO2. In brighter tanks it stays short and tight; in dimmer ones it grows a touch taller, which is handy if you want a slightly looser, more natural look.
It handles our warm 27-29C water well and spreads by runners across the substrate, gradually anchoring itself into a dense mat. Patience is the main requirement, since it establishes more slowly than fast stems. For HDB and condo keepers who travel during the monsoon stretch, its low-maintenance nature is a real plus, as it does not demand constant trimming to stay presentable.
