Description

Growth of Mini Taiwan moss is horizontal and overhanging, like a mini version of ‘Weeping moss’. Attaching to branching wood or vertical rock will present it at its best and is also very useful for a moss wall or for hiding installations in the aquarium.
It is an easy and decorative moss with quite low demands, but good light and some added CO2 will promote growth and branching.
Full identity of this beautiful moss is not yet established and studies may likely place it as a species of family Isopterygium.

Mini Taiwan Moss for Detailed SG Aquascapes

Mini Taiwan moss is prized for its tidy, slightly overhanging growth that looks like a compact take on weeping moss. The tissue-culture cup gives you clean, dense starter strands free of snails and nuisance algae, which is exactly what you want when you are building a precise scape. Attach it to branchy driftwood or vertical rock with thread or cyanoacrylate glue, and it will drape into neat cascading shelves as it fills in.

It is an easy, low-demand moss, so it fits Singapore tanks comfortably. Our warm 27-29C rooms are within range, soft slightly acidic tap water suits it once dechlorinated, and it grows under moderate light, though good lighting and a little added CO2 encourage tighter branching and richer green. Keep flow moderate and trim occasionally to stop it shading its own base and browning.

It is also excellent for moss walls and hiding equipment. See our moss wall guide, attachment methods, and moss types compared. Browse more epiphytes for your layout.
