Persicaria sp. ‘Sao Paulo’ Background Plant in Singapore

Persicaria sp. ‘Sao Paulo’ is a tall, fast stem plant we recommend when you want a lush, full backdrop with real vertical movement. Its narrow leaves flush warm orange and red under good light, and because it shoots up quickly it fills the rear of a tank faster than slower stems. Separate the bunch into single stems, plant them in a dense block at the back, and let the group grow up as a unified curtain of colour.

That speed is useful in two ways for Singapore hobbyists: it greens up a new scape rapidly, and as a hungry grower it pulls excess nutrients from the water, helping starve out algae during the vulnerable early weeks. It takes our soft, slightly acidic dechlorinated tap water well and grows enthusiastically at ambient 27-29C. Provide CO2 and strong light for the best red tones, and top-and-replant regularly to keep the stand bushy.
