Description

Nymphoides Hydrophylla ‘Taiwan’

Nymphoides hydrophylla ‘Taiwan’ grows in Asia and Africa – and this variant of the species originates from southern Taiwan.
The rosette plant can become 15-25 cm tall and 10-15 cm wide.
This variant is characterised by many underwater leaves and the intense, light-green, transparent colour of the plant.
The plant is fast-growing and it is necessary to thin out the leaves (remove oldest leaves and surface leaves).
The plant is easy to care for under varying conditions, but for optimal growth it requires a lot of nourishment.
The new plant grows from the plates of old leaves.

Tropica Nymphoides Hydrophylla ‘Taiwan’ in Singapore Tanks

This Tropica rosette plant is a favourite for adding a soft, light-green flush to the mid and background of a planted layout, with its many transparent underwater leaves catching the light beautifully. Arriving in a pot, it transplants easily: remove the rockwool, trim the roots lightly, and set the crown into your substrate so the growing point sits clear. In our warm Singapore tanks it grows quickly, which means it establishes fast but also needs thinning to stay tidy.

Give it moderate light and it pushes a steady stream of fresh leaves; brighter light and added nutrients speed it further. Because it is fast-growing, pinch out crowded or older leaves regularly so light still reaches the plants behind it, and lift the whole rosette to divide if it gets too large. Its rapid growth also makes it a strong nitrate sponge, helping keep water clear between changes.
