Keeping the Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose Pleco L144
The Blue Eye Lemon Bristlenose (L144) is a long-loved bristlenose colour form, combining a soft lemon-yellow body with distinctive blue-grey eyes and the bushy snout tentacles males develop with age. It stays small for a pleco, so it earns its keep as a tireless algae grazer in community tanks across Singapore flats and condos. Our warm ambient 27-29C suits it well, and a typical indoor tank needs no heater to keep this peaceful bottom-dweller rasping happily over glass and decor.
While it grazes algae and biofilm, a bristlenose still needs a proper diet: sinking algae wafers, blanched vegetables like zucchini and cucumber, and a piece of driftwood to rasp on for healthy digestion. Provide caves or shaded overhangs as daytime retreats, keep the tank well-oxygenated, and condition the soft local tap water before changes. Good mechanical filtration helps too, since plecos produce noticeable waste for their size.
