How To Safely Add Fish To Tank
- Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
- Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
- Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.
Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.
Keeping the Tiger Catfish in Singapore
The Tiger Catfish is a striking, predatory bottom-dweller best suited to keepers with the space and filtration for a genuinely large fish. These catfish grow substantially and produce a heavy bioload, so we steer them toward big, well-filtered tanks rather than community setups, and away from any tankmate small enough to be swallowed. They are nocturnal hunters that appreciate caves, driftwood and shaded retreats to lie up in during the day.
For HDB and condo keepers, the practical limit is usually tank footprint and floor loading rather than the climate; our ambient 27-29C suits the species without heating. As with all our livestock, acclimate slowly: rest the bag in a shaded spot, then float it to equalise temperature before a gradual water introduction. A mature, stable filter is essential to handle the waste a growing predator generates.
