Spreading Return Flow with the TW Rainbar for Top Filters

A rainbar takes the single jet coming off a top filter return and spreads it across a row of small outlets, so water re-enters the tank as a gentle curtain rather than one harsh stream. That even spread keeps the whole surface rippling, which is what actually drives gas exchange, while stopping a single blast from flattening stem plants or blowing substrate into drifts at one end of the tank.

In our climate that surface agitation does real work. Warm 27-29C water gives up oxygen easily, so a rainbar that keeps the entire surface moving helps your fish breathe through the night when plants stop producing oxygen. Aim the bar so the outlets break the surface slightly for maximum ripple, or angle them just below it if you are running CO2 and want to keep some gas in solution. It clips onto standard top-filter return spouts and trims to length for narrower HDB tanks.
