Tissue culture cup, pest and algae free.
Planting Cryptocoryne Tonkinesis tissue culture in Singapore
Supplied as a clean tissue-culture cup, this Cryptocoryne arrives pest and algae free, which is a real advantage for shrimp keepers and anyone wary of introducing snails or hydra. We always rinse the firm gel from the roots under dechlorinated water before separating the tiny plantlets into small clumps. Spacing them across the midground lets each rosette fill out as it settles, rather than competing in a single crowded knot.
Expect some leaf melt in the first weeks as the plant converts from emersed lab growth to submerged life in your tank; this is normal and the rhizome usually re-sprouts hardier underwater leaves. Singapore’s soft, slightly acidic tap water suits most crypts once dechlorinated, and stable parameters matter more than chasing perfect numbers. Avoid moving it once planted, since crypts resent disturbance and respond by melting again.
