Crypt lucens is a less common type of crypt that can serve as an ideal foreground or midground plant. The slender leaves are bright green with brown stems and when grown in large groups can resemble tall reeds of thick grass. Like other crypts, this plant is recommended for beginners due to its ease in keeping and low care requirements. If grown in good aquarium substrate such as Controsoil, the plant can feed through the roots and grow quickly without the need for high light, CO2 or fertilizer dosing.
Crypts can be grown emersed or submerged. Propagate by splitting the rhizome or cutting off new growth and replanting

Cryptocoryne Lucens Care for Singapore Tanks
Cryptocoryne Lucens is a less common crypt with slender, bright green leaves that, grown in groups, resemble tall reeds of grass and make an excellent foreground-to-midground carpet alternative. Singapore aquascapers favour it for a natural, flowing look without the high-tech demands of true carpeting plants. Available as a potted plant or tissue-culture cup, the cup option arrives clean and pest-free, ideal for shrimp tanks where keeping snails and hydra out is a priority.
Lucens is beginner-friendly and a heavy root feeder, so planting it into quality aqua soil lets it feed through the roots and spread by runners. It does not need high light, CO2 or heavy dosing, which suits low-tech setups perfectly. Our 27-29C ambient water needs no chiller, and our soft tap water suits it once dechlorinated. Plant the small plantlets a little apart and let them fill in; avoid moving them once settled to prevent unnecessary melt.
