Info

This plant has a new botanical assignment and thus a new name. It belongs to the group of small stature species with linear and curled leaves such as B. belindae, B. catherineae and B. mircantha. The variety ‘Needle Leaf’ is extremely slow growing and particularly suitable for filigree aquascaping landscapes. As with all Bucephalandra species, it is very easy to care for. Inserting small algae cleaners, such as Amano shrimp or Clithon snails, is recommended.

Bucephalandra micrantha ‘Needle Leaf’ for filigree scapes

‘Needle Leaf’ is one of the slender, fine-leaved Bucephalandra, with narrow curled foliage that suits delicate, filigree aquascaping beautifully. Supplied in-vitro, it arrives clean and free of pest snails and algae, which makes it an ideal way to introduce this Borneo epiphyte to a shrimp tank or a meticulous nano layout. Like all Buce, it is genuinely easy to care for once mounted.

Tie or glue the rhizome onto driftwood or stone and never bury it; the rhizome must stay exposed to thrive. It grows extremely slowly, so it holds its scale in a small scape for a long time with minimal trimming. To stop algae settling on those slow, fine leaves, we suggest adding grazers such as Amano shrimp or Clithon snails, which fits perfectly with the shrimp-friendly nano tanks popular here in SG.
