Product Information

Clean and healthy water. Plant and food remains and metabolic substances lead to a deterioration of the quality of the water in the aquarium., Good water quality is necessary for healthy fish and plants. This can be achieved with various filters and filter materials., The filters suck in the aquarium water and remove the pollution and waste materials with the filter material from the water.
Easy to use: Put filter material into the filter in the second last stage.

Faq

After the Micromec balls are added, there is whitish cloudiness in the tank.
> This is an indication that MicroMec is passing into a filter basket after it has been removed from the plastic bag, but has not been rinsed well under running water in order to remove the dust collected in transport.

It may also be caused by an incorrect changing of the filter media causing the bacterial culture to be excessively weakened and leading to bacterial bloom. This is not related to the JBL MirkoMec product.

Running JBL Micromec Sintered Glass in Singapore Tanks

We see Micromec do its best work in canister filters running our warm 27-29C tap water, where bacterial activity stays high year-round. The high-porosity sintered glass gives colonies of nitrifying bacteria an enormous internal surface to settle into, which matters in heavily-stocked HDB community tanks where a small footprint of media has to handle a big bioload. Seat it in the later filter stages, after your mechanical foam, so it does not clog with detritus.

Because Singapore tap water arrives chloraminated, always pre-fill a new filter or add bottled bacteria when first commissioning Micromec, since chloramine can knock back the colony you are trying to grow. Rinse it only in old tank water, never under the tap, to preserve the biofilm. One litre comfortably supports a typical 2-4 foot tank, and the glass lasts for years without crumbling, so you are not replacing it every few months like cheaper ceramic noodles.

Pair it with the right placement and a proper cycle for stable results. Our aquarium filter media guide covers stacking order, and if you are setting up fresh, read the nitrogen cycle explainer before stocking. Browse more options in our filter media range.
