Running UP Aqua Activated Carbon in Your Filter
Activated carbon earns its place when you need to pull discolouration, odours and dissolved organics out of the water, and this 250g bagged carbon drops straight into a canister tray, hang-on chamber or media bag. We reach for it most after dosing medication, to strip leftover residues once treatment ends, and to clear the yellow tannin tint that fresh driftwood leaches, something almost every local hardscape tank goes through in its first weeks.
The bundled bag makes it easy to slot in and pull out, which matters because carbon is not a permanent media. It saturates and stops adsorbing, so we tell customers to swap it every few weeks rather than leaving it in indefinitely. In planted tanks, run it short-term for a specific job rather than continuously, since it can also strip some dissolved nutrients. Rinse it under tap water first to clear carbon dust before it goes in.
