Using the UP Aqua E-013 NH3+NO2 Remover Sponge in Singapore Tanks

This twin-pack of pre-cut sponge pads slots neatly into hang-on-back and canister media trays, giving beneficial bacteria a high surface area to colonise while polishing out fine debris. At 26 x 16 x 1cm each pad trims easily with scissors to fit most baskets we see on local setups, from compact HDB desktop tanks to larger sumps. Rinse it in old tank water during water changes so you keep your colony intact rather than nuking it under the tap.

In Singapore’s warm 27-29C water, biological processes run fast, so a stable, well-seeded sponge matters more than raw flow. Pair it after your mechanical floss and before your ceramic or matrix media for the cleanest order. Because our tap water is chloraminated, always dechlorinate before any rinse near live media. During monsoon power cuts, keep the sponge damp and return it to flow quickly to avoid die-off and an ammonia rebound when the pump restarts.
