Using the Cade Filter Sock in a Singapore Sump
The Cade Filter Sock is a 10cm nylon mechanical filtration sock that drops into the first chamber of a sump to catch detritus, uneaten food and fine particulate before it reaches the rest of the system. On CADE sumps and similar reef or freshwater set-ups, it is the front line that keeps your display water polished and reduces the nutrient load feeding nuisance algae. The white nylon makes it easy to see at a glance when it is loaded and due for a change.
In our warm climate, organics break down fast, so a clogged sock quickly becomes a nitrate source rather than a help. We suggest swapping or rinsing it every few days depending on stocking and feeding, and keeping a spare or two so you always have a clean one ready. Wash used socks in cold water, or run them through a wash bag in the machine without detergent, and let them dry fully before reuse.
Find compatible gear in our filtration and aquarium equipment range. For where it fits in the system, see our reef tank sump design guide and filter sock holder guide.
