Running the Qanvee QS-100A/QS-200A Bio Sponge Filter in a Singapore Tank
We stock the Qanvee QS-100A and QS-200A because they suit the way most hobbyists here run nano and shrimp tanks. At our ambient 27-29C, a sponge filter driven by a small air pump aerates the surface and keeps biofilm-rich sponge media colonised with bacteria, which is exactly what shrimplets and fry graze on. The adjustable outlet height also lets you dial down surface agitation so a high-tech planted tank does not off-gas precious CO2 too quickly.
The refillable media chamber is the real advantage of this model over a plain sponge. You choose what goes inside, so you can pack it with biological media for a heavily stocked tank or keep it light for a gentle shrimp setup. When the sponge clogs, rinse it in old tank water rather than chlorinated tap water so you do not kill the colony. For renters and HDB flats, the compact footprint and near-silent operation make it an easy fit beside a desk or in a bedroom.
It pairs naturally with our filtration and aquarium equipment range; read our sponge filter guide and air pump guide to size the pump correctly, and our beginner shrimp tank setup if this is for a colony.
