Description

Sagittaria sp. ‘Needle’ is a stunning, narrow-leaved aquatic plant, likely a variation of Sagittaria subulata. With slender leaves reaching 15–30 cm in length and only a few millimeters wide, this plant adds a delicate, elegant touch to any freshwater aquarium.

Ideal for aquascaping, Sagittaria ‘Needle’ is easy to grow, thriving in moderate light without the need for additional CO₂. Under intense lighting, its vibrant green foliage may develop subtle orange hues, enhancing its visual appeal. This hardy plant spreads effortlessly via runners, making propagation simple—just trim and replant as needed.

Thanks to its compact, upright growth, Sagittaria ‘Needle’ is a fantastic choice for creating a soft, natural-looking background in aquariums. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced aquascaper, this low-maintenance plant is a great addition to any aquatic setup.

Sagittaria sp. ‘Needle’ (1-2-Grow!) in Singapore tanks

This needle-leaved sag is a finer, more delicate variation on dwarf sagittaria, with slender blades reaching 15-30cm that bring a soft, grassy movement to the front and midground. Supplied as a clean 1-2-Grow! tissue culture cup, it arrives free of snails and algae, so you can split it into small portions and space them out to let the runners knit a carpet. It is an easy, undemanding plant that suits local low-tech keepers.

It grows happily under moderate light without added CO2, which makes it a practical choice for community tanks here, and our soft, slightly acidic tap water is well within its comfort zone. Under stronger light the green foliage can take on subtle orange tints. It propagates itself through runners, so the simplest way to thicken or extend the patch is to trim and replant the daughter plants rather than buying more.
