Nature Grains! Gammarus as a Natural Treat
Gammarus are small freshwater shrimp dried whole, and they’re one of the most useful natural treats we stock for fish and turtles. Their shells are rich in natural carotenoids, the pigments that fish can’t make themselves but use to deepen reds, oranges and yellows, so a regular gammarus treat supports stronger colour alongside a varied staple diet. Turtle keepers in particular love them, and larger community fish relish chasing the floating pieces.
The microwave-drying process locks in nutrients with minimal heat damage, giving a clean, neat-to-serve treat without the mess of frozen or live food, handy in compact Singapore homes. Use them as a supplement rather than a sole diet, a few times a week, and pre-soak if you keep smaller fish so the pieces soften and sink. Store sealed and dry, as our humidity can soften opened packs.
