Long description:
Crystal Red Shrimp are a selectively bred Caridina species prized for their bright red and white banded pattern. They are best kept in shrimp-dedicated tanks with soft, slightly acidic water and stable parameters. Moss, plants, and biofilm-rich surfaces provide natural grazing areas and hiding spots. Due to their sensitivity, they are recommended for experienced hobbyists who can maintain consistent water quality and proper mineral balance.

Crystal Red Shrimp for Singapore Shrimp Keepers
Crystal Red Shrimp, a selectively bred Caridina cantonensis, are the classic red-and-white bee shrimp that many hobbyists graduate to once they have mastered the easier cherries. Their banding and grade vary widely, from lower grades up to crisp Mosura and Crown patterns, which makes selective breeding genuinely rewarding. They are an advanced keep precisely because they demand soft, slightly acidic, very stable water rather than tolerance of whatever comes from the tap.
In Singapore this usually means starting from RO or RODI water remineralised with a dedicated shrimp salt, run over an active soil substrate that buffers pH down. Our ambient 27-29C sits at the warm edge of their comfort, so sensitive lines benefit from a chiller or a cooler, shaded room to hold them nearer the low-to-mid twenties for best colour and breeding.
