Indian Glass Fish Care in Singapore Tanks

The Indian glass fish is a striking oddity, with a translucent body that lets you see its skeleton, and it draws a lot of curiosity in local community tanks. They are peaceful and best kept in a small shoal, where their nervy temperament settles and they colour up better. We acclimatise them carefully, as glass fish can be shy feeders at first and may ignore food until they feel secure among their own kind and within a planted, gently lit layout.

One thing we always flag to local hobbyists: avoid the artificially dyed or injected specimens sometimes sold elsewhere. Natural fish are healthier and far longer-lived. These fish often do best with a touch of hardness, and some keepers run them in lightly brackish setups, so they are not always an ideal match for very soft, acidic tap water straight from the tap. Feed small frozen and live foods to bring out condition, as they can be reluctant to take dry flakes initially.

Our ambient 27-29C suits them without heating. Browse our guppies and livebearers range, and read our Indian glassfish care guide and Indian glassfish brackish setup guide.
