- Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.

- Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.
Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.
Red White Calico Platy in the community tank
The Red White Calico Platy carries a mottled patchwork of red, white and dark speckling, so no two fish look quite alike, which is part of the appeal for keepers building a lively mixed tank. We rate it among the most beginner-friendly livebearers in Singapore: peaceful, adaptable and content in the warm 27-29C water of a typical unheated indoor aquarium. They graze actively all day, accept flake and micro-pellets readily, and welcome a little blanched vegetable to keep their varied calico colouring vibrant.
These platies do best with a good water conditioner to neutralise chloramine and a touch of buffering, since our local tap runs soft and slightly acidic while platies lean toward harder, neutral-to-alkaline conditions. As livebearers they breed freely, so include floating plants or spawning grass if you want fry to survive. Keep them in small groups with a female bias, and pair with corydoras, tetras or other platies for a relaxed, colourful community.
