Growing Echinodorus ‘Visifius’ in Singapore tanks
‘Visifius’ is a sword variety we keep for hobbyists who want a robust rosette feature plant that holds its shape without constant attention. Like all Echinodorus it grows from a crown rather than a stem, so plant only the roots and keep the crown sitting flush at the substrate surface. If it arrives in a rockwool pot, ease the wool off the roots before planting, and remove any torn outer leaves so the plant directs energy into new submersed foliage.
This is a hardy, low-fuss plant that copes with a wide spread of water conditions, making it well suited to local tap water and the standard community tank. In our 27-29C ambient water it grows steadily in unheated setups. Swords are heavy root feeders, so a nutrient base or root tablets tucked under the crown reward you with bigger, healthier leaves, while early melt of nursery leaves is a normal part of settling in.
It sits in our broader live plants range. We’d recommend our sword care guide and root tabs guide for feeding, plus our plant acclimatisation guide when you first plant it.
