Homalomena Silver Mint in the Midground

Silver Mint offers a cool, minty-green leaf washed with a silvery overlay, a fresh tone that pairs nicely against darker wood and red plants. We like it as a calm, structural midground accent that grows slowly and asks for little, which suits the compact, low-maintenance tanks many Singapore hobbyists keep at home. It handles our ambient high-twenties water and soft, conditioned tap supply without fuss or extra heating.

Being an aroid, it grows from a rhizome that must stay above the substrate; bury it and the base rots. Mount it on hardscape or rest it with only the roots in the substrate. It feeds chiefly through the water column, so consistent liquid fertiliser keeps the leaves colourful and firm. CO2 is optional, but supplying it tightens the growth habit and helps the plant establish more quickly in a new scape.
