Using Stress Coat With Singapore Tap Water

Singapore tap water is treated with chloramine rather than plain chlorine, and that distinction matters at the dosing cup. Chloramine is more stable than chlorine, so a quick stand or aeration will not gas it off the way it might elsewhere. That is exactly why a conditioner like Stress Coat earns its place on the shelf: you treat the bucket or the tank directly before or as you add fresh water, and the bond is broken on contact rather than left to chance.

For most local hobbyists the moment of stress is the weekly water change, especially when fresh water comes out of the tap warmer or cooler than the tank. We see beginners lose fish not to the change itself but to the shock around it. Conditioning the replacement water, matching temperature, and going slow takes the edge off. Keep the bottle near your bucket so it becomes an automatic step.

If you are still learning the rhythm, read our water conditioner guide and our notes on making SG tap water aquarium-safe. We stock other conditioners across our range if you want to compare dosing.
