Kubotai Rasbora, these cyprinids are native to rivers and streams of Southeast Asia. In fact, many of the fish in the aquarium hobby are wild-caught. This means that they can be challenging to find for the average hobbyist. While they may be difficult to find, these attractive little fish are definitely worth the search. Their eccentric green and yellow body is striking to say the least. An established group of Neon Green Rasboras will display their colours vividly, and definitely become the center of attention in an aquarium.

How To Safely Add Fish To Tank

  1. Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
  2. Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
  3. Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.

Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.

Kubotai Rasbora (Green Kubotai) Care in Singapore Tanks

The Kubotai rasbora, often sold as the green kubotai, is a tiny, peaceful nano fish that glows a soft neon-green under good light and moves in a loose, shimmering shoal. It is ideal for the compact planted tanks that suit HDB and condo living, where a tight 60cm aquascape can hold a meaningful school. Like most micro-rasboras it shows its best colour and behaviour in numbers, so we always suggest keeping a group of at least eight to ten rather than a token few.

These fish come from soft, slightly acidic, tannin-stained waters, which our chloraminated tap can mimic well once treated and softened, ideally with some botanicals or a planted scape for cover. Our 27-29C ambient sits comfortably within their range, so most keepers run them heaterless. Acclimate slowly, as small fish are sensitive to sudden parameter swings, and pair them only with equally gentle nano tank mates.
