Mystery Snail Care for Singapore Aquariums
Mystery snails are one of the most beginner-friendly clean-up crew members we stock, grazing algae and leftover food while adding a splash of colour in golds, blues, ivories and more. They suit community tanks and HDB nano setups alike, and unlike many pest snails they will not explode in numbers since they need a male and female to breed. Their peaceful nature makes them a safe pick alongside small fish and shrimp.
Singapore tap water tends to be soft and slightly acidic, and very soft, low-mineral water can leave snail shells pitted or thin over time. A touch of mineral hardness helps them build strong shells, so it is worth keeping an eye on your GH. Our ambient 27-29C suits them without a heater. They also breathe air and like a lid, as they can climb out, and they appreciate a calm tank with stable, well-cycled water.
Please acclimate them slowly, following our acclimation guide, and read the full mystery snail care guide before adding them. See more in our snails selection.
