CaribSea Arag-Alive Bahamas Oolite for SG Reef Tanks
Bahamas Oolite is the finest, sugar-sized grade in the Arag-Alive range, and that texture choice has real consequences for how a reef behaves. The tiny rounded grains give a bright, natural sand-flat look and are gentle on sand-sifting gobies and burrowing inverts, but very fine sand can lift into the water column under strong powerheads. In a Singapore nano or AIO build we suggest aiming flow above the sand bed and angling returns so you keep that clean white look without a sandstorm.
Because it ships wet and seeded with bacteria, it helps a new tank establish biological filtration faster, though you should still monitor parameters through cycling rather than assume the work is done. Rinsing is generally not needed, and adding it gently to a filled tank keeps the initial cloudiness brief. Our ambient 27-29C water suits the tropical reef life this substrate is meant to support.
