Description
Fiji Pink – This soft pink colored, 100% aragonite substrate is a good intermediate sand size product. The precise 0.5 – 1.5mm grain size combines some of the animal friendly properties of fine sand such as ingestability and low resistance to burrowing, but with better diffusive flux properties and good porosity. This is also the standard choice for reef aquariums at 1 pound per gallon.
Live Aragonite Sand You can now bring the world’s most exotic reefs into your home with CaribSea’s Arag-Alive!™ substrates. Eight environmentally accurate ecoscapes, developed from CaribSea’s cooperation with public aquariums and zoological parks where authenticity is a must, Arag-Alive!™ makes any aquarium uniquely yours.
Arag-Alive!™ makes it easy to set up an aquarium. It’s ready to work, clears quickly, and contains millions of live bacteria to cycle super fast and create a natural biological balance. Arag-Alive!™ suppresses the dreaded “new tank syndrome”, compresses the ammonia cycle, and discourages nuisance algae. In fact, independent labs prove Arag-Alive!™ cycles days faster than other brands of live sand.
That’s what makes Arag-Alive!™ the choice of new aquarists and maintenance companies where speed of set up, beauty, and reliability are demanded.
Why Fiji Pink Is Our Go-To Reef Sand in Singapore
Fiji Pink sits in the sweet spot of grain size, around 0.5-1.5mm, which is why we recommend it so often to Singapore reefers building their first marine tank. It is fine enough to look natural and stay friendly to burrowing inverts and gobies, yet coarse enough to resist blowing around under the strong flow most reef tanks need. That balance makes it a forgiving all-rounder for nano, AIO, and mid-size builds in HDB and condo spaces.
The substrate ships wet and seeded with live bacteria, helping a new system establish biological filtration sooner, though we always advise testing through the cycle rather than trusting the bag alone. A roughly one-pound-per-gallon bed is a sensible starting point for most reef layouts. Aragonite’s buffering also nudges pH and alkalinity in the right direction, a useful trait given Singapore’s naturally soft tap water.
