Ludwigia Sp White in Singapore Planted Tanks

Ludwigia Sp White is a freshwater stem plant grown as a colourful accent and background filler, valued for the pale, contrasting foliage that breaks up a wall of green. As it grows it draws up nitrate and other nutrients, helping maintain water quality, while the stems provide cover and grazing surfaces for fish and shrimp. Planted in tight bunches it fills in quickly to build the layered depth that gives a planted scape its sense of distance.

The lighter tones in pale Ludwigia depend on strong, even lighting and a balanced nutrient regime; under modest light it tends to revert greener and grow more slowly. Singapore’s 27-29C ambient sits within the workable range, but warmth speeds growth, so expect frequent topping and replanting of the healthy upper sections to keep the stand dense and prevent leggy stems shading out their own lower leaves.
