Money Plant Manjula (Pot) for Aquarium Use

Money Plant Manjula is a variegated pothos with creamy marbled leaves, and like all pothos it’s used in aquariums as an emersed plant: roots in the water, leaves growing out above the rim. Grown this way it’s a champion nitrate sponge, drawing nutrients straight from the water column to help curb algae, while the dangling root mass gives fish and shrimp shelter. The foliage itself stays out of the tank, so it won’t be eaten by herbivores.

It’s about as easy as houseplant-style filtration gets, thriving in our warm, humid Singapore conditions and tolerating low light. Suspend the roots over a hang-on-back filter or rim, and trim leggy growth to keep it bushy. Because the leaves are terrestrial, keep them above water; only the roots should be submerged for healthy long-term growth and the best nutrient uptake.
