Keeping Rotala Macrandra Mini Pink in Singapore Aquascapes

Our potted Macrandra Mini Pink arrives in rockwool, emersed-grown, so the leaves you see now will give way to softer submerged growth once planted. Rinse the rockwool away, split the pot into several stems and plant each with a little gap so light reaches the lower nodes. This is one of the more rewarding reds for a nano or midground accent, but it asks for patience while your tank matures and the plant converts to underwater form.

Colour intensity tracks closely with light and CO2, plus a steady iron-rich fertiliser routine. Given enough of all three, the tips deepen toward pink and red; with less, the plant trends greener but stays healthy. SG tap water’s soft, slightly acidic profile suits it well, though always dechlorinate to neutralise chloramine. Tanks here sit at 27-29C, which Macrandra tolerates, but the more stable you hold every parameter, the better the colour holds.
