Keeping Sedum Lemon Ball in Aquascapes
Sedum Lemon Ball arrives as a bright, ball-shaped plant often sold for vivariums and emersed displays. We want to be straight with customers: it is a succulent-type plant that thrives with its leaves above water and damp roots, so it performs best in a paludarium, riparium, or the emersed section of a hardscape rather than fully submerged long term. Used that way its lime-green colour is a striking accent under good lighting.
In our humid climate it enjoys the moisture but still needs airflow to avoid rot, so we site it on driftwood or an island where roots stay wet but foliage breathes. Trim leggy growth to keep the rounded form, and watch for melt if it stays underwater, which is the usual cause of disappointment.
See the rest of our live plants selection for true submerged species, and plan placement with our emersed section guide and emersed vs submersed explainer.
