Bucephalandra Velvet Dragon in Singapore Aquascapes
Velvet Dragon builds on the popular Velvet line with a slightly more dramatic leaf form, giving aquascapers a textured, deep-toned buce that holds its own as a feature plant. Supplied potted and pest-free, it is well suited to the detailed nano and iwagumi-style layouts popular among Singapore hobbyists. We like placing it where shadows fall across hardscape, since the matte leaves absorb light and add a sense of depth that glossier plants cannot replicate.
Keep it epiphytic: fix the rhizome to driftwood or rock with glue or thread and never bury it, as a buried rhizome will rot. In our 27-29C ambient water it thrives without a chiller, and our soft tap water suits it once dechlorinated. Growth is characteristically slow, so a healthy specimen rewards patience rather than rushing. Gentle, consistent flow over the rhizome and stable parameters keep it settled and resistant to leaf melt.
