Keeping Black Sail Corydoras in Singapore
Black Sail Corydoras are an attractive, peaceful catfish that work the bottom of a community tank, tirelessly sifting the substrate for leftover food. Like all corys they are social and far happier in a group of six or more, where you will see them shoal and forage together rather than hide. Give them a soft sand or smooth fine-gravel bottom: sharp or coarse substrate wears down their delicate barbels over time, which are the sensory tools they rely on to find food.
Our soft, slightly acidic Singapore tap water suits them well once dechlorinated for chloramine, and at 27-29C ambient most local tanks need no heater for them. When your order arrives, rest the closed bag for half an hour, float it to match temperature, then mix tank water in gradually over the next thirty minutes before netting them across. Avoid pouring transport water into your display.
