Tissue Culture Pogostemon erectus for Singapore Aquascapes

This tissue-culture Pogostemon erectus arrives clean and free of pest snails, algae and pesticide residue, which makes it one of the safer ways to introduce a new stem plant into an established Singapore scape. The fine, needle-like foliage forms neat bottle-brush bushes that bring texture and vertical movement to the background, and it pairs beautifully with broader-leaved midground plants for a layered, natural look.

Erectus is moderate in demand rather than fussy. It appreciates decent light and benefits a lot from CO2 injection, which keeps growth compact and the colour a fresh green rather than leggy and pale. In our warm tanks it can grow quickly once settled, so regular trimming is part of the deal. After planting, rinse the gel off the roots, separate the clump into smaller portions, and give it a couple of weeks to convert from emersed to submersed growth before judging it.
