Description

This Asiatic liverwort, often called Coral moss, is a thick and compact species with an intense, deep green colour. Only 1-3 cm tall, Riccardia is particularly suited for attaching to branches and stones.
The moss grows slowly and is easily overgrown by algae or other mosses. Riccardia requires more light than other mosses.

Riccardia chamedryfolia (Mini Pellia) TC for SG Tanks

Coral moss, as Riccardia is often called, is a dense, deep-green liverwort that forms thick, compact pads only a couple of centimetres tall. Supplied as tissue culture, it arrives clean and pest-free, ready to be teased into small portions and tied with fine thread onto branches and stones. Over time it builds up into the chunky, coral-like cushions that make such striking detail on hardscape in a Singapore aquascape.

It is a slow grower and needs more light than typical mosses to stay healthy and keep its tight form, so give it brighter placement than you would Java moss. Because it grows slowly, it is prone to being overgrown by faster mosses or smothered by algae, so keep it away from detritus traps and ensure decent flow. It accepts our soft, slightly acidic dechlorinated tap water and tolerates warm ambient temperatures, with gentle CO2 helping density.

Our epiphyte aquascape guide covers tying technique, and our tissue-culture aquascaping guide helps you start clean. See more in our epiphytes range, kept ready in Singapore.
