Description
Eleocharis acicularis ‘mini’ has even lower growth than the common Eleocharis parvula and was given to Tropica by Thomas Barr from USA.
Plant the mini-version in small portions to cover a large area.
In short time, a dense carpet will be obtained. Needs light to perform optimally, however, it is one of the most reliable species for creating a carpet – and a minimum of maintenance since the leaves remain short (3-5 cm). Suitable for nano-aquariums.

Eleocharis Acicularis Mini for Nano Carpets
The mini form is our pick when you want a low, tightly cropped lawn rather than the taller sway of standard hairgrass. Its shorter blades stay neat in nano and shrimp tanks, the kind of compact builds that fit nicely on an HDB desktop or condo sideboard. Supplied as tissue culture, it comes free of snails and algae, so you start with a clean slate and simply divide the cup into many small portions for fast coverage.
Plant the portions close together to speed up the carpet, then let the runners fill in. It genuinely rewards strong light and CO2 with a dense, even mat; under weaker light it still grows but more slowly and sparsely. Singapore’s warm ambient water and conditioned tap supply suit it well, and gentle substrate-level flow stops the tiny plugs floating loose before they take root.
