Rotala Macrandra ‘Yellow’ for Warm Accents in SG Aquascapes
The ‘Yellow’ form of Rotala macrandra, sometimes sold as ‘Wavy’, swaps the classic crimson for soft golden and peachy tones that bring a different kind of warmth to a layout. We recommend it to Singapore aquascapers who want colour variety beyond the usual reds and greens. Its undulating leaves catch the light beautifully and pair well with deeper reds and bright greens in a Dutch-style street planting.
Like its red cousin this is a medium-care plant that performs best with strong light, CO2, and consistent dosing, particularly iron and trace elements that bring out the yellow-orange hues. It thrives in the soft, slightly acidic water common from our local taps once dechlorinated, and copes with our warm 27-29C tanks. Stability is key; sudden swings cause melting or leaf drop on the lower stem.
Top and replant frequently to keep the stand bushy and the colour up where it shows. See our macrandra variants comparison and macrandra care guide, and browse more in our background plants range.
