Description
Crypt Pink Flamingo has been highly sought after in the aquarium trade for years now due to it’s unique and intensely pink coloration. Much like crypt wendtii, this medium-sized crypt features longer, ruffled leaves which first appear as an intense pink-red color and eventually fade to a more subdued, lighter pink.
It compliments other aquarium plants nicely and makes an excellent focal point in a tank of any size. Though Crypt Pink Flamingo is a rare plant, it is not difficult to grow. Crypt Pink Flamingo will thrive under low lighting and send out runners as it grows which will form new plants, though it does grow rather slowly.
Caring for Cryptocoryne Flamingo in Singapore aquariums
Crypt Flamingo is one of the most striking pink plants we stock, and it has long been a local collector’s favourite for adding a soft focal point. Despite its reputation as rare, it is genuinely undemanding: it holds its colour under low to moderate light and slowly sends out runners to form a small cluster. We suggest a single specimen as a midground highlight, where the ruffled pink leaves contrast against green neighbours.
Stable conditions bring out the best colour, and our soft, slightly acidic Singapore tap water suits it once dechlorinated. A nutrient-rich substrate with iron support keeps the pink vivid rather than fading toward green. As with every crypt, expect early melt after planting and resist the urge to relocate it. Ambient 27-29C is comfortable, so most home tanks need no temperature control for it to thrive.
