Schismatoglottis perietoi: A Rare Crypt-Style Aroid

This is a collector’s aroid in the same broad family as the cryptocorynes, and it shares their patient, root-feeding temperament. Because it ships as a tissue-culture cup, you get a tidy clump of clean plantlets with no snails, hitchhiker algae or pond residue to introduce into an established scape. Rinse the gel off the roots gently, separate the small clusters, and tweezer them into a nutrient-rich substrate where they can settle and run.

Like most aroids it grows slowly and rewards stability over tinkering. Singapore’s soft, slightly acidic tap water suits it once dechlorinated, and our warm 27-29C rooms sit comfortably within its range without a heater. Expect a melt-and-regrow phase as the emersed-grown leaves convert to submersed form. Hold steady on light and ferts during that window rather than uprooting to check progress.
