The Wabi-Kusa Mat is a sponge base that you attach moss and aquatic plants to, and this pack gives you six to build out a planted wall or a set of small Wabi-Kusa pieces. The sponge does two things well: it holds water like a reservoir so roots never dry out, and it stays permeable so air still reaches the plants. That combination is exactly what emersed moss and stem plants want while they establish.

For Singapore hobbyists running DOOA cascade or wall systems, the mats take a lot of guesswork out of emersed growth. Their water retention buffers against the drying effect of air-conditioning in HDB flats and condos, keeping the planting damp between mistings.
