Bucephalandra Super Blue Care in Singapore

Super Blue is prized for the iridescent blue-toned sheen its leaves can develop under good light, making it one of the more sought-after buce in the local hobby. Supplied potted and clean, it suits aquascapers who want a touch of colour shift among otherwise green hardscape plantings. We see it used most often as a feature on driftwood branches or rock faces where the blue catches viewing-angle light, drawing the eye in nano and mid-sized displays.

Treat it as a true epiphyte: glue or tie the rhizome to hardscape and never bury it in substrate, or the rhizome will rot. In Singapore’s 27-29C ambient water it needs no chiller, and our soft tap water suits it once dechlorinated. Growth is slow, so the blue colouration builds gradually rather than overnight. Moderate-to-good light and clean, gently moving water give you the best chance of that signature sheen developing fully.

See companion plants in our epiphytes range. The Super Blue care guide details light and parameters for the best colour, and our broader Bucephalandra care guide covers attachment and long-term maintenance.
