Using Bromelia Guzmania Lingulata in Singapore Paludariums

The Bromelia Guzmania Lingulata is a terrestrial bromeliad prized for its bold red-orange flower bract, and we recommend it for emersed and paludarium displays rather than fully submerged use. Its central rosette holds a small reservoir of water, which is exactly what makes it a striking centrepiece above the waterline in a vivarium or riparium. Mounted on cork or driftwood, it draws the eye while terrestrial roots anchor it.

Singapore’s high ambient humidity actually plays to this plant’s strengths, since bromeliads thrive in warm, moist air close to the water surface. Keep the rosette cup topped up with clean dechlorinated water, and give it bright but indirect light; harsh direct lighting can scorch the leaves.
