Growing Nupar Japanico Spatterdock in SG Aquariums
Spatterdock is a hardy rosette plant that rewards patience, sending up broad leaves that make a strong midground or background feature in a planted tank. Arriving potted in rockwool, it transplants cleanly: gently tease away the wool, trim any damaged roots, and plant the crown into your substrate without burying the growing point. In Singapore’s warm tanks it settles in readily, though like most rosette plants it appreciates root nutrients from a richer substrate or a tab tucked beneath it.
Give it moderate to good light and it will push steady new growth; under low light it grows slowly but stays healthy. It can throw the odd floating leaf reaching for the surface, which you can trim if you prefer a fully submerged look. As a living plant it also helps draw down nitrates, supporting cleaner water alongside your filtration in our warm, fast-cycling conditions.
