How To Safely Add Fish To Tank

  1. Set live stock aside with transportation bag in room temperature place for 30 minutes.
  2. Then transfer bag to float in aquarium for another 30 minutes
  3. Use a fish net to transfer the live stock by scooping it from the bag into the tank.

Note: Do not release live stocks together with the transportation water into tank.

Keeping the Balloon Gold Ram in Singapore Tanks

The Balloon Gold Ram is a golden colour variant of the dwarf cichlid Mikrogeophagus ramirezi, bred into the short, rounded balloon body shape. It makes a striking, peaceful centrepiece for nano and small community aquariums. As with all rams, it is a more demanding fish than your average livebearer, so we recommend it for keepers who already have a stable, mature tank rather than a brand new setup still finding its feet.

These rams are warm-water fish, so our ambient 27-29C usually keeps them comfortable without a heater, which is one less thing to worry about during a power outage. They thrive in soft, slightly acidic water like our conditioned local tap, but they are sensitive to nitrate creep and parameter swings, so steady weekly water changes are key. Give them gentle flow, soft substrate for digging, and a few shaded retreats to feel secure.

For practical guidance, read our German Blue Ram care guide and the wider dwarf cichlid care guide, alongside our water parameters guide. You will find this fish in our others livestock listings.
