Long description:
Red Nose Shrimp, also known as Pinocchio Shrimp, are easily recognized by their long pointed red rostrum and transparent body. Unlike many dwarf shrimp, they are more active swimmers and are often seen exploring all levels of the aquarium. They are effective algae grazers and do well in planted tanks with stable, clean water conditions. Due to their sensitivity to water quality and tendency to jump when stressed, a covered tank and proper acclimation are recommended.

Red Nose Shrimp Care in Singapore
The Red Nose, Caridina gracilirostris, is an unusual filter-and-graze shrimp known for its long, spear-like red rostrum and busy, swimming behaviour that sets it apart from the bottom-bound cherries. It is more of an intermediate keep: it appreciates well-oxygenated, clean water and is less forgiving of neglect than Neocaridina. In a mature, planted display it adds genuine movement and a talking-point silhouette near the midwater.
In Singapore our ambient 27-29C falls comfortably within its preferred range, so a heater is rarely needed, but strong surface agitation matters since these shrimp dislike low oxygen. Note that gracilirostris naturally favours slightly brackish-to-hard conditions, so keep parameters stable and your tap water well conditioned. As with all shrimp, avoid copper-based products completely and acclimate slowly to prevent shock.
See more livestock in our shrimp range. Because these are sensitive on arrival, follow our guide on how to drip acclimate shrimp, and read our notes on copper danger before dosing any tank treatment.
