DiscusFood Pleco Special soft sinking granules for SG keepers
These high-protein soft granules suit growing plecos and catfish that need more conditioning than a standard algae wafer provides, and we recommend them for keepers pushing young bristlenose or pleco fry toward good size. In our warm 27-29C tanks metabolism runs fast, so feed small daily portions rather than one large drop, and watch that the soft granules are eaten within a few minutes before they break apart on the substrate.
Because the granules sink readily, they reach shy bottom dwellers that hang under driftwood and rockwork during the day. We suggest alternating these richer granules with a leaner algae-based wafer so the diet stays balanced; an all-protein regime in a planted community tank can contribute to excess nutrients. Always remove anything uneaten during your weekly siphon to keep nitrates in check in our soft local tap water.
You will find more sinking and conditioning foods in our general fish food range. For diet planning see our bristlenose pleco diet and feeding guide, and if you keep gentler grazers our rubber lip pleco care guide explains how feeding needs differ between species.
