Selaginella Erythropus Ruby Red Club Moss for Vivariums
This Ruby Red Club Moss is a spikemoss prized for the reddish undersides of its delicate, fern-like fronds. We are upfront that Selaginella erythropus is a terrestrial bog plant rather than a true aquatic, so it shines in paludariums, ripariums and terrarium foregrounds where it can root in damp substrate with humid air above. Submerged permanently it will melt, which catches out buyers expecting a stem plant.
Singapore’s natural humidity suits it beautifully, mimicking the tropical forest floor it comes from. Plant it in moist, well-draining substrate near a water feature or misted zone, give it shade to dappled light, and keep airflow gentle so the fine foliage stays crisp. It pairs well with mosses and small ferns to carpet the land section of a wet display.
Browse more from our live plants range, and design the right home for it using our paludarium setup guide and emersed terrestrial mix ideas.
